A monoplane is a fixed-wing aircraft configuration with a single main wing plane. In general layout the machine resembled modern aircraft design: monoplane rather than biplane; tractor rather than pusher propeller. Witnesses tended to agree that the flying machine had no tail section.
A monoplane has inherently the highest efficiency and lowest drag of any wing configuration and is the simplest to build.
