Description.
The cycling monorail or shweeb is a human-powered monorail train. The project prototype was originally designed and implemented in Rotorua, New Zealand as a leisure attraction. Riders seated in a capsule cycle themselves along safe from the elements and road traffic. The idea was conceived by Geoffrey Barnett, an ex-pat English teacher who had one too many near-misses cycling through Tokyo on his way into class. Today, Shweeb is a proposed personal rapid transit network based on human-powered monorail cars.
